Custodial history

Scope and content

The series consists of records that relate to the accounts that were payable to Bishop's Machine Shop. During the years between 1935 and 1955, the firm purchased raw materials mainly from manufacturers off the Island. They included I. Matheson & Co. (New Glasgow), Frank Fales & Sons (Saint John) and Canada Metal Company (Montreal). After 1958, Ralph Bishop, then sole proprietor, concentrated on minor repair work and most of the companies from which he purchased were Summerside businesses such as M.F. Schurman Co. Ltd. and R. T. Holman Ltd., as well as from small local garages. Included with the payables of the machine shop are numerous personal bills, such as oil, rent, telephone, and car repairs of Mr. Bishop.
