History

In February 1897, a number of local citizens met to discuss a public hall in New Dominion, Prince Edward Island. As a result, a committee was formed to offer shares at the rate of $5.00 each, with not more than 100 shares offered. As a location for the new hall, Mr. Neil Livingstone offered a piece of land measuring 65' x 65' to be severed from his Meadow Brook farm, in return for four shares. Construction went forward, and in March 1897 the Hall Company incorporated under the name Afton Hall Company.
