History

A passenger list indicates that an Andrew MacDonald came to Prince Edward Island aboard the brig "Isle of Skye" on the 23 September 1806, when he was fifty five years old. A land petition dated the 17 February 1807 states that Andrew MacDonald of Three Rivers was a merchant who had recently arrived from Scotland with his family and had settled intending to carry on trade and commerce, and by 1807, had loaded three ships with lumber for Europe. By 1817, Andrew MacDonald was in partnership with his sons Angus and Colin MacDonald, and carried on trade and commerce under the official title of "Andrew MacDonald and Sons." Andrew MacDonald, a native of the Island of Shona, died on the 30 May 1833 at Panmure Island, P. E. I.
