History

Joseph-Octave Arsenault was born in Prince Edward Island, the son of Leleme Arsenault and B. Poirier. He married Gertrude Gaudet Apr. 16,1861. He attended Central Academy in Charlottetown and became a merchant and farmer in Abram's Village. He was elected Member of the Legislative Assembly 1867 for 3rd Prince and held his seat until February 1895 when he resigned. He was called to the Canadian Senate 18 Feb. 1895 and died at Wellington, PEI on 14 December 1897.
