Name of creator

Fraser, Ezra Davidson (1854-1938)

Biographical history

Ezra Davidson Fraser was born on 8 March 1854 at North Lake, Prince Edward Island to Donald Fraser and Elizabeth (Betsy) MacVean. As a young man he travelled to the United States where he worked in the Boston area as a photographer, possibly associated with Lynn photographer C.E. Cook whose studio published a souvenir book of Lynn, Massachusetts in 1879. In 1881 Ezra Fraser returned to North Lake bringing with him 170 glass plate negatives of Lynn. He set up a general store in North Lake where he also farmed and worked as a salesman for agricultural machinery. Except for some photographs of his property in North Lake and family members he does not appear to have pursued his interest in photography further. He was married twice, first to Fannie MacLaren and second to Amanda MacDonald. Ezra Fraser died in 1938.
