Biographical history

William Adolphus Ledwell was born on 22 July 1928 the son of Thomas Ledwell and Anna Gillis of St. Peter's Bay, Prince Edward Island. He was married on 1 July 1957 to Adeline Peters of Rollo Bay. The couple and had five children, Mark, Mary, John, Paul and Andrea. Bill was a librarian in the PEI Provincial Library System and Director of the Media Centre. He maintained an abiding interest in sports and wrote a regular sports column for the Charlottetown "Patriot" newspaper.

Scope and content

The collection consists of a volume of the Winter Mail Service Boatmen's Attendance book (1890-1896); a notebook listing doubtful voters from Milton, North River, and North Wiltshire; and sixteen photographs primarily of sports events but including one of the interior of the railway shop in Charlottetown. The earlier portion of the Attendance book has been used as a scrapbook of newspaper clippings about harness racing in Prince Edward Island and the Maritimes (1911-1916).
