History

Brooklyn, Prince Edward Island is located five miles southwest of Montague. It is unclear when the Church of Scotland congregation was established in this community, but it is known that Reverend Donald MacDonald (1793-1867), first Church of Scotland minister on PEI, who began ministering in the Murray River area circa 1826 played an integral role in establishing this church and the one in Belle River which were part of the same charge.
