History

In 1895 Alexander (1865-1934), a farmer in Lower Freetown, married Annie Alice Anderson (1863-1942), daughter of Alexander Anderson (1827-1899) and Isabella MacCallum (1831-1885). The couple had three daughters: Alice, Laura, and Ruth (1905-1985). As a young woman, Ruth Anderson left Lower Freetown and moved to Summerside where she was employed by R. T. Holman Ltd. Following her marriage to Edson Rayner in 1934, Ruth lived with her husband on his farm in Clermont. Ruth and Edson had two children: Sally Ann and Hopgood. She was an active member of the church and held several positions within the Clermont Women’s Institute. Ruth died 10 February 1985.
