Biographical history

The Crapaud Creamery Company in Crapaud, Prince Edward Island was incorporated by an Act of the General Assembly in 1896. The first board of directors included Richard C. Lea, George Stordy, Robert McVittie, Warren Newsom, William D. Sherrin, Donald McLean, George Newsom, and R. F. Ford. At the time of incorporation, shares in the company could be purchased for ten dollars.

For a number of years the Crapaud Creamery was located on the west side of Howatt's Millpond on the site which would later be occupied by Dawson's Service Station. By 1948 it was clear the creamery had outgrown the space, and in 1949 a new creamery and cold storage facility was built. The creamery continued to operated through the 1970s. In the 1980s the Crapaud Creamery Company was purchased by Amalgamated Daries Limited (ADL) of Summerside.
