Administrative history
In the late 1960s the government of Prince Edward Island hired Acres Research & Planning Ltd. to carry out a series of studies on the various sectors, outlining the current economic situation and problems of the various industrial and cultural sectors of the Island, identifying the potential for growth, and providing program proposals which would help realize that potential. The program that would eventually become known as the Comprehensive Development Plan.

The fonds consists of a series of reports prepared in 1967 by Acres and presented to the Joint Federal- Provincial Research and Planning Committee for Prince Edward Island. They were filmed in the following sequence: Agriculture; Fisheries; Recreation & Tourism; Forestry; Education; Leadership, Influence, & Innovation; Rural & Urban Development Capability; Central places in Prince Edward Island.
