History

Watson Duchemin was a builder and inventor who lived in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. His factory existed as early as 1827 and made pumps, blocks and other equipment for sailing ships. He was best known as the inventor of the brass roller bearing blocks. Duchemin was a skilled craftsman and musician. He built three pipe organs, one of which was used at the Indian River Church. His sons and grandsons carried on the family business up to the mid-Twentieth Century.
