Biographical history

William Edward Aitken of Prince Edward Island studied violin through the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He appears to have played a violin built by his uncle, William Aitken, a skilled carpenter in Kings County, PEI. William E. Aitken had at least one son, Rev. C. D. Ed Aitken.

The collection consists of the examination record in violin of William Edward Aitken from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, February 1926. The document was discovered in the case of a violin made by his uncle William Aitken, a skilled carpenter from Kings County, Prince Edward Island.
