The Guardian Publishing Company began publishing The Guardian (also known as The Daily Guardian) in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, in 1890. Its editions included The Weekly Guardian and The Semi- Weekly Guardian. The Daily Guardian was the successor to the Island Guardian which was the successor to the Protestant Union. The Island Guardian which was published by the Island Guardian Publishing Company, and the Daily Guardian, published concurrently from 1890 until 1894.
