History

George Leslie Haslam, born 6 January 1865, was the son of Robert Haslam and Jane Large Weeks of "Stone Cottage" in Springfield. His grandparents were Thomas Haslam, inn-keeper and saw-mill operator, and Elizabeth Moore who emigrated from Ireland to Prince Edward Island in 1818. George Haslam married Lucy Bardin Palmer (1865-1944), daughter of James Bardin Palmer Jr. and Anne Maria Marshall of Desable on 3 January 1894. The couple moved to their new farmhouse "Hazeldean", designed by W.C. Harris, where they raised five children, Gladys Muriel, Robert Jarvis, Reginald Heber, George Lloyd, and Albert James.
