Biographical history

Henry Edward Gallant was born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, the son of John Peter Gallant and Eugenia Arsenault and brother to Edgar, Casey, Emmett, Bertha, and Celina. After he left PEI he worked as a technician in the refrigeration division of the General Electric Company factory in Bridgeport, Connecticut, making his home in Shelton where he continued to live into the 1990s.

Custodial history

Scope and content

A large portion of the 184-page ledger was never used. Pages 1- 47 and 181-184 contain technical notes about refrigeration in no apparent order. Entries are predominately for the years 1953 to 1955, but there are a few for 1979. An index section at the front of the book was used to record addresses as well as a few notes. Inserted within the pages were several printed instruction sheets and handwritten notes of a technical nature, assorted newspaper clippings, a wallet-size safe boating guide, and two colour photographs pertaining to family. They have been removed to a separate folder.
