History

Wanda (Lea) Howatt, born in 1902 to Brenton and Blanche (Lord) Lea, attended school in Tryon and studied music in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. She worked in Waltham, Massachusetts prior to marrying Hiram Howatt (1890-1964). The couple had three children including Doreen, Blanche, and Lea Erskine. The Howatt family lived on the corner of Prince and Euston Streets, and later on Kings Square in Charlottetown.

Wanda was an active member of Trinity United Church, a member of the Willing Circle of Kings Daughters, and a charter member of the United Church Women. She was also very active in her local Meals on Wheels program. Wanda died 27 May 1989 at the age of eighty-seven.
