Biographical history
The Insurer's Advisory Organization of Toronto was one of Canada's foremost fire-insurance plan makers. They made fire insurance plans for most Canadian towns and villages from the 1890s to the 1970s.
Custodial history
A large inventory of fire insurance plans was acquired by the Archives of Ontario from the Insurer's Advisory Organization in 1975. In 1990, these two plans were offered to The Public Archives and Records Office.
Scope and content
This fonds consists of two fire insurance maps prepared in 1919; Tyne Valley and Breadalbane. The Breadalbane map has been corrected to 1937. Maps show roads and buildings. Buildings and waterways are coloured.
