Name of creator

Daily, Robert R. (fl. 1918?)

Biographical history

Robert R. Daily was a farmer from Carmen, Manitoba, who belonged to the 44th Canadian Infantry. He had been a prisoner of war in a German prison camp since the 16 March 1917, when he wrote to Mr. And Mrs. A.E. Morrison of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island in 1918(?).

Custodial history

Scope and content

The fonds consists of one letter written by Robert Daily, prisoner of war, to Albert and Isabel Morrison of Charlottetown on 14 April 1918(?). Daily's letter is a response to a letter received from the Morrisons on 12 January 1918(?). The content of Robert's letter is limited to him introducing himself to the Morrisons due to war-time censoring. The letter indicates that Daily did not previously know the Morrisons, who may have written the letter as part of a church, community, or Red Cross project.
