Biographical history

J. Sterling Walker of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, compiled material regarding the career and interests of his father, James Sydney Walker.

Custodial history

Scope and content

This collection is comprised primarily of documents and photographs regarding the 105 Battalion and Island military history. Included in the collection are: a notebook kept by Lieut. Allen Battiscombe Cosh of statistics collected regarding the men of the No.7 Platoon "B" Company; a photograph of the Battalion Band; a photograph of 18 of the men of the Battalion (all identified); a Christmas/New Year's card 1917-1918 including a photograph of the warrant officers, sergeants and staff sergeants of the 104th Canadian Infantry Battalion; programmes to Remembrance Day and Legion dinners; a photocopy of a commission appointing Robert Hodgson Captain in 1796; and newspaper and other articles regarding Island military history.

In addition to the military material are: newspaper clippings and a letter regarding the first air mail flight to the Island; a photograph of the Charlottetown Fire Department fighting a fire at Heartz Hall (Trinity United Church); a newspaper article about a historic Charlottetown house; and two copies of the programme for a coronation service held for King George V at the First Methodist Church in Charlottetown.
