Notice biographique

Brenton Harold “Jack” Turner was born 24 September 1889, son of Henry Willis and Florence (Love) Turner of O’Leary, Prince Edward Island. Turner became interested in photography at an early age and taught himself to use a box camera. He worked as a clerk in his father’s general store H.W. Turner’s on Main Street in O’Leary and also spent some time in western Canada prior to enlisting for the war in 1915. Turner served overseas with the Second Canadian Siege Battery during World War I. After his retirement from farming in 1952, Turner again turned to photography as a hobby and won first prize in the Centennial Photography Contest. Turner was a member of the O’Leary Royal Canadian Legion and the O’Leary United Church. Jack Turner died 6 October 1989 at the Community Hospital, O’Leary.
