Scope and content

From 1818 to 1856, Cornwall was part of the Charlottetown Methodist circuit. In 1856, Little York and Cornwall separated from the Charlottetown circuit to become an independent charge. The Little York/Cornwall Methodist circuit was first ministered by Rev. Richard Smith (1856-1857). In 1876, Cornwall was established as a separate circuit. The first minister of this circuit was Rev. H. P. Cowperthwaithe (1876-1879).

The series consists of vital statistics (baptisms, marriages, deaths, and membership lists) and administrative records (minutes of session) for the Little York/Cornwall Methodist circuit. There are also three items relating to the early history of the Cornwall Church, including one written by Rev. W. B. Thomas. The records have been divided into the following subseries:

Subseries 1: Vital statistics [Reel 1]
Subseries 2: Administrative records [Reel 1]
Subseries 3: Historical sketches [Reel 1]
