Custodial history

Scope and content

This collection consists of two photocopies of the album pages and 42 copy prints from a photograph album belonging to Mrs. Lulu (Hooper) Deacon which was passed down through her family. The images are of portraits of members of the Strong, Hooper, Thomas, Moyse, Wright, Clark, and other families. The portrait subjects are identified as are most of the photographers. Some handwritten comments as to relationships and so on are included in the album. The majority of the original photographs were cartes-de-visit with a few tintypes most likely dating from the 1860s and 1870s. Eight photographs were missing from the album at the time of copying. The collection also includes a photocopy of the album pages.
