History

Samuel MacRae was the son of Donald and Mary MacRae of Lot 49, Prince Edward Island. He married Elizabeth McGregor in December 1877, and was very active in the militia. In 1875 he was named Captain in the Charlottetown Provisional Battalion of Infantry in Militia District 12. Samuel was also a merchant in Charlottetown between at least 1876 and 1891 and for a time operated a hotel in Charlottetown. He died in 1904.
