This series contains records relating to the establishment and development of Dr. George Dewar's medical practice, including correspondence, partnership agreements, medical licenses and certificates. The series contains general correspondence, correspondence with medical school classmates, letters to the editor and other physicians regarding a variety of medical issues, an article which appeared in the Nova Scotia Medical Bulletin, dietary guidelines for infants and children from Dr. Dewar's medical practice, overviews of the state of medical care in O'Leary, and letters announcing Dr. Dewar's retirement from medical practice in 2003. The series also contains two ledger books from Dr. Dewar's medical practice for the period ca. 1955-1970. Entries in these ledgers often include the patient's name, residence, the type of services rendered (eg. "Office visit", etc.), and the cost of services.
