History

The CGS Minto, named for Governor-General Minto was built by Gourlay Brothers of Dundee, Scotland. In 1900 she joined the CGS Stanley in providing winter ferry service to Prince Edward Island. She was commanded by Captain Allan Finlayson. In the summer both vessels were employed in light station supply. In 1915, the Minto was sold to Russia. She is believed to have been wrecked on the Norwegian coast.
