Historique
Arthur Newbery was born in Siena, Italy on 24 April 1850, one of fourteen children of John Fenton Newbery and Adela Travalini. The family moved to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, while Arthur was a boy and he attended Prince of Wales College. For over fifty years he served as Assistant Provincial Secretary-Treasurer and was principally responsible for the development of Queen Square gardens. He was an active member of the congregation and a Vestryman at St. Paul's Anglican Church. On 4 September 1889 he married Ella, daughter of James and Susan Malcolm of Boston. They had three daughters, Adele (Mrs. P. D. Williams), Marion (Mrs. George DeBlois) and Florence (Mrs. Fred I. Andrews). They resided at 11 Haviland Street in Charlottetown. Arthur Newbery died on 26 June 1930, predeceased by his wife Ella on 14 February 1920.
