Biographical history
Norman J. MacDonald ran a general store in Grand Tracadie, Prince Edward Island, carrying groceries and general merchandise including dry goods, hardware, gas, etc. It served a wider community than Grand Tracadie with accounts from Dalvay, Rustico, Brackley and Charlottetown. Mr. MacDonald died prior to 1 April 1937.
Custodial history
These records were found in a house on Spring Park Road, Charlottetown.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of two account books and an insurance policy dated April 1, 1937 for the building serving as store and dwelling, contents, and outbuildings. The account books cover the period from 1920-1938 and contain acounts for such businesses as Dan MacDonald's Cook House, the McMillan Hotel in Brackley, the Grand Tracadie Fish Company, as well as accounts for the Grand Tracadie school, the church at Corran Ban, and those of individuals from the surrounding area.
