The Anglican congregation of Souris, Prince Edward Island was part of the Georgetown Parish which also included, at various times, the communities of Mt. Stewart and Cherry Valley and shared the services of the rector of this parish or of Charlottetown parish. In 1889 a subscription list was begun to build a church in Souris and St. Alban the Martyr Church opened on 8 August 1895 on the east side of Church Ave., adjacent to the site of the cemetery. For a few years it enjoyed the services of a resident rector but soon returned to a pattern of monthly services with visiting clergy from Georgetown or St. Peter's Church in Charlottetown. By 1916 there was talk of closure of the churches in the Georgetown parish and in 1918 St. Alban's was closed. In 1920 the building was sold and moved. Sporadic records of births, marriages and deaths would indicate however that some church activity took place within the Anglican community in Souris for at least several decades following that date.
