History

Ruby Blanche Dennis (13 March 1901 - 22 March 1993) was the daughter of Benjamin Dennis and Mary Alice Sharpe of Lot 14, Prince Edward Island. Ruby earned her teaching license from Prince of Wales College, and she taught school at Birch Hill (1922-1924). She later taught at Lower Freetown, where she boarded with the Profitt family. In 1926, Ruby married Allison Profitt. The year previous to her daughter Irene's birth, Ruby lost a baby in childbirth and almost died herself. Ruby and Allison had five children: Irene, Bruce, Donald, David and Douglas. Ruby suffered from Alzheimer's disease during the last several years of her life, and she died in 1993 in Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, PEI.
