History

Mary Ready was born on 21 March 1906 in Prince Edward Isalnd. Educated at Kensington School, Miscouche Convent, Notre Dame Convent and Prince of Wales College, she taught school in Northam, Cumberland, and Kensington. Mary also taught piano lessons, and performed for public entertainment, including silent movies. She played hockey with the Granite Sisters of Kensington. Mary was a registered nurse who trained at the Halifax Infirmary. Mary served as a Victorian Order nurse, worked as a private nurse in Halifax and Montreal, and managed a seniors' home in Montreal. She retired to Kensington in the 1970s and continued to be active in her church and community. She became especially involved in the Senior Citizen's Federation. Mary Margaret Ready, R.N., died 11 September 1992 at Prince County Hospital.
