Biographical history

Very little is known about Robert Jenkins of Belfast, Prince Edward Island. He was appointed as a prosecutor for the enforcement of the Prohibition Act in 1902.

This daybook is believed to have belonged to Robert Jenkins of Belfast, Prince Edward Island and contains details of monies owed and collected for farm-related supplies and services, including buying and selling foxes, and some muskrat and beaver. The daybook mentions the names and reasons for any business dealings (1913-1918). The daybook includes two letters from the Attorney General (1902, 1903) appointing, and then extending the appointment of, Robert Jenkins as prosecutor for the enforcement of the Prohibition Act of 1900. A handwritten copy of the letter (1902) written by Mr. Jenkins, accepting the appointment, is also included. Newspaper clippings (1903, 1906) are pasted inside the front cover and back pages. Many of the newspaper clipping discuss prohibition, temperance, and Mr. Jenkins's appointment as prosecutor.
