Historique
The South Bedeque Women's Institute was founded on 12 September 1922 and took in members from the Fernwood and South Bedeque areas of Prince Edward Island. Meetings were held on a monthly basis in the homes of the various members and usually included reports from committees, discussions about upcoming events, and talks and presentations on a variety of topics and issues, such as the work of women's organizations, scarlet fever, and infantile paralysis. Members of the South Bedeque Women's Institute were active within their communities, providing needed support and supplies to the Fernwood and South Bedeque schools, visiting members of the community who were ill, and donating money and supplies to the Prince County Hospital and Provincial Sanitorium.
