Scope and content
The series consists mainly of textual materials collected by Allan Savidant in his research for the multimedia exhibition titled "Spirit of the Light: A Tribute to the Lighthouses of the Maritimes." The exhibition was held at the Eptek National Exhibition Centre in Summerside, Prince Edward Island from 18 June to 12 November 1995. It featured works of painter Maurice Bernard, stained glass artisan Frank Macaulay, wood sculptor John Robertson, photographer Allan Savidant, and painter Diana Lemire Savidant, who died during the exhibit's development. The series contains photographs taken by Mr. Savidant during his research and a carousel of slides which he used to illustrate lectures that he gave about the project. The series also includes travel-diary notes and stories that he wrote while preparing the companion publication "In Search of the Spirit of the Light." A copy of the book, an exhibit brochure and postcard are part of the series. One file holds the contents of a presentation binder created to display biographies of the exhibition participants, some of the paintings and accompanying text, congratulatory letters, and photocopies of press coverage.
