Biographical history

Sybil Margaret MacMillan was born in Brackley, Prince Edward Island on 31 March 1914, the daughter of the late Vernon and Mary (Rodd) MacMillan. She attended Brackley School and then took Teacher Training and Commerce at Prince of Wales College. She graduated in 1934 and was employed for several years with the PEI Finance Department. Sybil enjoyed many sports, especially hockey, curling and golf. In the 1930's, she played hockey with the Charlottetown Abbie Sisters and the Summerside

Scope and content

This fonds contains the records of Sybil MacMillan. The majority of the records relate to Ms. MacMillan's participation in curling (1951-1993) and include newspaper clippings, participation lists, postcards, telegrams, invitations, correspondence, notes, programmes, booklets, minutes, and guidelines. The Crystal Sisters Hockey Team file (1954,1989) includes invitations, a name tag, dinner ticket, copies of newspaper articles from 1989 and one from 1954, list of team members' mailing addresses and a certificate of recognition. Prince of Wales College records consist of a 1928 pass list newspaper clipping; college calendars (1932-1933 ; 1960-1964 ; 1966-1967); and commencement / convocation programmes (1932, 1933, 1934, 1937, 1939, 1959, 1963, 1966). In the fonds there is also a 1929 recital programme and five postcards.
