Scope and content

The series consists of two subseries:

Subseries 1: Vital statistics [Reel 1]
Subseries 2: Administrative records [Reel 6]

In 1815 the Methodist congregation in Tryon was part of the Charlottetown circuit which was ministered to by Rev. James Bulpit. In 1817 Tryon and Bedeque became a separate circuit sharing a minister. The community of Crapaud was also part of the circuit. By 1868 there were two ministers in the circuit with the senior minister living in Bedeque and the junior preacher at Tryon. For a time the circuit extended to West Cape and Margate. In 1873 the charge was divided into two, the Bedeque circuit and the Tryon circuit.
