History

The Winsloe Pastoral charge of the United Church of Canada sprang from the Winsloe Methodist Circuit which in 1884 had incorporated the Bible Christian faith. At that time the Winsloe Circuit included Winsloe South, Winsloe North, Rustico Road, Glasgow Road, Hunter River and Wheatley River. The Highfield Methodist Church was dedicated in 1868 but was part of the Cornwall circuit until 1893 when the Winsloe circuit was rearranged to take in Highfield and Princetown Road while removing Hunter River. After church union in June 1925, the circuit which now consisted of Winsloe North, Winsloe South, Princetown Road, and Highfield became a pastoral charge of the United Church of Canada. In 1968 Brackley was added to the Charge. The five communities each have their own church but shared a Minister and a manse located in the centre of the Charge.
