Introduction

Take a virtual tour of “snapshots” of daily life on Prince Edward Island by viewing samples from the collections of the members of the Archives Council of P.E.I. In Graduation Day see history being made with U.P.E.I’s first convocation on May 15, 1970. In The Birds & the Bees you will be introduced to an Island naturalist, Francis Bain, through illustrations and text from his journals in which he lovingly captured the flora and fauna of his native province. Turning Points contains images from a letter, a diary, a minute book, a recruitment book, a miner’s “grub” list, and a telegram which reveal significant personal and social events of a particular day. Personal diaries and a Captain’s log book are highlighted in First Person Singular. Daily accounting by a rural woman, by store merchants, and by a cobbler, as contained within day books, ledgers, and journals, will be found in “Accounting for...”. Enjoy traveling back in time to revisit days in Prince Edward Island life. Please chose one of the headings above to begin your tour.
