Biographical history

Patrick William Clarkin (1875-1949) was born in North Wiltshire, Prince Edward Island, but lived most of his life in Charlottetown. He was employed for 47 years by the Canadian National Railway. His wife, Lucy Gertrude Kelly (1876-1947) was a free lance writer contributing stories and poetry to newspapers and magazines. They had four children, Madelyn, Alan, Maurice and Frank.

Scope and content

The fonds contains copies of newspaper articles concerning the Clarkin family as well as copies of a series of articles concerning the history of Crapaud and Charlottetown written by an unidentified contributor under the pseudonym Jean (or Gena) Autumn and a copy of "The story lady" by Lucy Gertrude Clarkin from Extension magazine. There are also two photographs, one of the CNR eastern ticket agents taken in 1926 at Edmonton, Alberta and one of an unidentified musical group.
