Biographical history

Crosby's Mill was one of many independent small mills which operated in Prince Edward Island in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It was in existence at Bonshaw as early as 1841, owned and operated by Andrew C. Crosby. The complex included at various times carding, shingle, saw, and grist mills. For a brief period of time it was even used to generate electricity for a few surrounding residences.

Custodial history

These records were found in the attic of a house in Bonshaw previously in the possession of the Crosby family and now owned by Bill Glen.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of three ledgers from Crosby's sawmill in Bonshaw, Prince Edward Island, from 1944 to 1947. They are arranged by customer, employee, income and expense accounts and are indexed at the beginning of each book. Individual accounts include details of the transactions.
