The fonds consists of oral tapes and transcripts of interviews conducted by Dianne Thompson with six Islanders about traditional remedies and cures for common ailments such as colds, croup, aches and pains, diarrhoea, stomach upsets, boils, canker, and toothache. Treatments include poultices and plasters, medicinal drinks infused from herbs and barks, salves, soaps and kerosene. Ms Thompson conducted these interviews in the preparation of a university paper. She hoped eventually to incorporate the information in a book on folk medicine on Prince Edward Island.
