Custodial history

Scope and content

The collection consists of a ledger from an unidentified store in Dunstaffnage, Prince Edward Island (1920- 1927) a day book from a saddler in Charlottetown (1892, 1905 -1915), ledgers, annual reports and assignments of shares of the Tryon Dairying Company (1937-1951), as well a certificate of merit in penmanship issued to Florence Burke (1917) and a photograph of the welcome arch for the visit of the Governor-General and Countess of Aberdeen. The ledgers from the Tryon Dairying Company were used by Lila Gamble as scrapbooks which contain wedding invitations, birth announcements, and thank-you cards as well as newspaper clippings primarily of births, engagements, marriages, deaths, graduations, and political events in communities west of Charlottetown.
