George MacDonald was born 17 June 1856 in Prince Edward Island. He married Isabel Leonard and the couple had seven children: Mary (26 May 1894 - ?), Victor (20 October 1895 - 6 January 1920), Leo (20 December 1897 - ?), Leonard (2 June 1900 - 21 October 1984), George (1 July 1902 - June 1979), Claire (? - ? ), and Louis (? - ?). George and his family lived in Annandale, Prince Edward Island where he was a merchant. In 1909, the family moved to Cornwall and settled on the farm that Isabel

The fonds consists of the diaries of George MacDonald dating 1909-1925 and 1928-1939. The diaries contain an account of farm life including comments on the weather, daily farm activities and the activities of family members, information about crops and livestock, recipes, and accounts.
