Biographical history

James Heron Fitzgerald was born in Ireland in 1795. He immigrated to Prince Edward Island some time before 1833. James worked as a school teacher in various Island communities through the mid -1800's, including Bedeque, Irishtown, and Trout River. In 1848 he acquired 74 acres on Lot 14. In addition to his teaching he also farmed and wrote poetry. At the time of his death in 1878 he was the owner of a farm in Richmond Station.
