Notice biographique

Margaret Forsythe, the daughter of John William and Martha Minetta (Hodgson) Forsythe was born in the Dock, near Alberton, Prince Edward Island, on 20 October 1907. She received her early education at the Dock School and Alberton High. After high school, she attended Union Commercial College in Charlottetown. On completion of her training, Margaret accepted employment with J.H. Myrick’s Store in Alberton in 1926 and continued there until 1947, at which time she chose to remain at home to care for her ailing parents until their deaths. She then returned to work in Alberton with H.D. Corbett’s Store and later at Hyndman’s Office.

Margaret was actively involved in her community. She served as Secretary Treasurer of the local school district. She also served as town Administrator for Alberton for a number of years. She was a life member of the Dock Women’s Institute and served as Secretary Treasurer from its formation in May 1950 until, because of health circumstances, it was necessary for her to leave the community and reside at Lady Slipper Villa, O’Leary. Margaret was also a member of the Alberton Presbyterian Church and served in various positions including in the Sunday School. Margaret Forsythe died on 30 August 1994.
