Biographical history
The Mount Buchanan Women's Institute was organized in Prince Edward Island on 20 April 1925. The Point Prim Women's Institute was reorganized on 27 February 1946 which presupposes that it had existed for some time previous to this. At a joint meeting of the two Institutes in September of 1966 they agreed to meet together until the annual meeting in November at which time the two Institutes would amalgamate.
Custodial history
Scope and content
The fonds consists of minutes of monthly meetings, annual reports, names of officers and directors, roll call, and financial statements for the two Institutes. Records for Mt. Buchanan cover the dates May 1928 - January 1943 and December 1962 - September 1966. Records for Pt. Prim cover the dates November 1954 - October 1966. Records for the joint Institute continue on to April of 1975 and are located in the final volume of the Mt. Buchanan records.
