Biographical history
Richmond Bay West Presbyterian charge was originally part of the parish which encompassed all of Prince County and part of Queen's County. It was ministered to from Princetown by Rev. John Keir who settled in Prince Edward Island in 1809. In 1819, Richmond Bay and Bedeque were disjoined from Princetown and Rev. Allen Nichol was ordained into the pastoral charge of the Richmond Bay congregation. Rev. Nichol died the following year and was succeeded by Rev. William MacGregor who served the congregation until 1847. Six years later, Rev. John McLeod was inducted to the charge which covered an area from Lot 11 in the west to Traveller's Rest. Rev. McLeod left the province in 1859 to take a charge in Newport, Nova Scotia at which time the Richmond Bay Parish was divided into to Richmond Bay East and Richmond Bay West. The two charges were reunited again for a short time between 1873 and 1881 under Rev. Henry Crawford. However, in 1881 Rev. Thomas Corbett became the minister to the Richmond Bay West charge which included Tyne Valley, Egmont Bay, and Lot 11. In 1925 when several of the Presbyterian congregation chose to join the newly formed United Church, Richmond Bay West joined the Tyne Valley Presbyterian Church.
