Biographical history

The Vessey family lived and farmed at Little York, Prince Edward Island. John Wesley Saunders Vessey was born on 23 July 1863, the son of Robert and Jane (Eddy) Vessey. He married Ida May Stewart, born 15 February 1866, the daughter of William Stewart of Sherwood and Hattie Sherbond

Scope and content

The fonds consists primarily of letters written by William Vessey from his postings in World War I and from his brother Lorne in Nova Scotia to their mother Ida although there is an occasional letter to each other or to their sister Ivy. There is also correspondence concerning William's pension, the death of Ida's sister Annie West, and letters to Ivy Vessey. The fonds also contains individual photographs of John Wesly and Ida May Stewart as well as a group photograph of the three children
