Scope and content

The series consists of taped interviews with politicians, government officials and employees involved with the Rural Development Council as well as founders, members, board members, and employees of the Council. The interviews were conducted in an attempt to understand the philosophy, activities, and history of the Council and its relationship with the Provincial Government. They took place at three different times: in 1980 by Patsy McQuaid, in 1987 by Gordon Cobb, and in 1990 by John Crossley and Michael O'Grady in preparation for the writing of From grass roots to grim reapings. Transcripts are included for approximately 25% of the interiews. There are also two other tapes, one of the discussion in the Legislative Assembly when the contract with RDC with the government was terminated and a copy of a CFCY program Eye opener concerning the Queen's County Jail.
