This subseries consists of 10 ledgers maintained by the Provincial Treasurer or Provincial Secretary-Treasurer between approximately 1846 to 1924 and 1969 to 1970. These volumes contain sections devoted to the accounts for the various departments or activities of the government such as public works, education, licenses, pauper relief, as well as dealings with individual banks. Within each section, credits and debits are entered on facing pages in chronological sequence and balanced by the month or year. Entries have been transferred to these earlier ledgers from the day books and journals. Originally volume spines bore identification letters, e.g. "G", which corresponded with notations in the day books and journals. A special "debt" ledger contains accounts of the Government of Canada in debt with the Province of PEI under the terms of PEI joining Confederation.
